Chipotle The Scarecrow

As advertisements for an iPad app go, the one that Chipotle put together back in 2013 is pretty compelling. It’s the story of a scarecrow living in a world where “Crow Foods” chemically pumps up chickens and sticks cows into milking boxes.

This is, of course, a reference to the fast food giants with at least a little nod towards the Monsanto type of companies out there controlling western society’s food chain. The video invokes quite a bit of emotion; with a haunting rendition of “Pure Imagination” by Fiona Apple. The song, which first appeared in the 1971 film Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, is a brilliant choice for the message of change that Chipotle hoped to portray.

Here’s the video. It’s pretty old (by internet time) but with 13M views, it’s likely that some of our readers haven’t seen it yet. Even if you have, it’s still a great song to hear again.
