Did Edward Snowden Tell David Carr Something Important Hours Before His Death?
In the world of completely unsubstantiated and totally hypothesized conspiracy theories, one must always be careful about offending the family of the deceased. In this case, the deceased is journalist David Carr and the theory is that Edward Snowden revealed something to him before his unexpected death.
He wasn’t young, but 58 isn’t exactly old. Moreover, he’s been active with his career, having just finished a “Times Talks” conversation. One of the people interviewed is what brings the conspiracy theory into the realm of speculation. Did Edward Snowden, the subject of his interview hours before his death, reveal something to Carr that spooked people in authority?
As of the writing of this article, details have not been released about the cause of death. He reportedly collapsed suddenly in the newsroom. One would think that, as a respected journalist who has proven to be open about the shortcomings of others as well as documenting his own troubles, that if he were sitting on a big story about Snowden’s next leak that he would have said something to someone. Then again, perhaps he did. Perhaps containment and a not-so-subtle message was being sent to Snowden and anyone else with whom Carr had spoken.
Again, this is all completely speculation with nothing to even remotely substantiate it. With that said, isn’t it all a little ironic?
