Pentagon Says Strange Light Over California Was a Missile Test, but Many are Skeptical
Saturday night around 6pm, a strange light lit up the sky and had tens of thousands of people from San Diego to San Francisco scrambling for their smartphones to take videos and post about it on social media. Within minutes, law enforcement officials were posting explanations. The unfortunate part for them is that the explanations differed from each other.
The official story now is that it was a rocket test fired from a submarine. That wasn’t the original official story, of course, but it was a good scramble nonetheless.

On Twitter, as unreliable as that may be, a poll by a local Los Angeles television station shows around 70% of the responders still believe it was a UFO despite it being identified by the Pentagon. That either demonstrates the frivolous nature of social media, the lack of trust in the government, or a combination of the two.
Nevertheless, something strange was flying over California’s shores on Saturday night. Here is the video.
