Response from CDC was Oddly Quick and Straight Forward
When bad news comes and pertains to the US Government, we usually hop on the bandwagon of attacking them for their poor response and spin-doctoring practices. In the case of the cross contamination that occurred at the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention Influenza Laboratory, we received the news relatively quickly. The response so far has been what we hope is very transparent as well.
CDC Director Tom Frieden took to the podium and spelled it out as it happened. He then expressed his concerns in ways that were not defensive. He offered no excuses and seemed truly concerned about what happened and how to improve on the processes for the future. It makes you wonder what would happen if doctors and scientists ran the country.
Here are a couple of excerpts from the press conference.
